Quest’ultimo è pitturato con vernice fotoluminescente ed è visibile anche di notte. Sono tornata dopo il tramonto, ma l’effetto non era visibile: probilmente perché oggi è stata una giornata cupa e nuvolosa.

I suoi sono scorci su una Londra o una Tokyo notturna e bagnata dalla pioggia, lucente e quasi liquida nelle luci della città.

Osch – Otto Schade in London (ENG)

I love street art, and London offers herself as a boundless canvas.

I mean, there is maybe lot of rubbish out there, but there are also some real artists and people of amazing creativity and insights. London’s brick walls and maze-like streets speak and say a lot, if you stop and listen to them!

Right now, one of my favourite street artists is Osch – Otto Schade. He’s a Chilean artist and in these years (say, the last two years) I’ve seen lots of his artworks around the city.

I particularly like his “spheres” : you can notice one of Osch’s sphere from far away – his style is unmistakable.

Today I was in Schoredich (see Joan Cornellà solo in Shoreditch (ENG)), and after the Cornellà exhibition I looked after a bit more of East London’s street art.

I’ve discovered that this style is called “orb style”: Around London, you can find also many “ribbon style” Osch works: a rhino, a bull, some fishes… – animals and human figures.

Joan Cornellà solo in Shoreditch (ENG)

Today I wandered around my favourite area of London: the vibrant, ever changing Shoredich, my street art paradise.

I visited the solo exhibition of the Barcelona-based illustrator and cartoonist Joan Cornellà (hosted at Hoxton Arches till October 1st).

Joan Cornellà: morbid, unsettling, sinister, flat-out offensive and provoking, unconventional, unnerving, cynic, coarse, truly sincere.

This particular painting made me remember an article read the evening before about the Grenfell Tower disaster, in which the survivors asked the people to stop coming there and making selfies in front of the tower block where eighty people have died.

Pensieri del 4 gennaio

Degli stralci dai miei quaderni

La National Gallery è stranamente tranquilla e silenziosa. Com’è bizzarra e bella questa atmosfera. Cammino per le sale: sono sola, e so di avere gli occhi ben aperti, avidi di bellezza.

Mi ritrovo a pensare che questo potrebbe essere uno dei miei posti preferiti di Londra: non si paga l’entrata, ed è un edificio molto ampio, dove poter passeggiare, distrarsi, riposarsi, prendersi qualcosa di caldo e buono, scrivere. Certo, oggi non c’è tutta la folla dei giorni scorsi… è il 4 gennaio, un pomeriggio; l’ultimo pomeriggio che trascorrerò a Londra, per qualche tempo. Ho deciso di mettere da parte per oggi quello che devo fare, e mi sento rinata. Osservo i dipinti: mi siedo davanti a Bacco e Arianna di Tiziano. Dovrò ritornare altre volte per riuscire a vedere a fondo tutti i dipinti.

Osservo attentamente Gli Ambasciatori di Holbein il Giovane, Il ritratto dei coniugi Arnolfini di Jan van Eyck…

Esco mentre viene annunciata la chiusura della galleria. Mi ritrovo su una Trafalgar Square immersa nel buio e scintillante di luci notturne.

Per qualche ragione che intuisco ma non so completamente articolare, questa giornata mi rimarrà particolarmente impressa nella memoria. Oltre i vetri o attraverso gli specchi della caffetteria, mi sono vista perfettamente combaciare con il mio riflesso.
